Program Overview

The mission of the band program is to provide a quality instrumental music education in a nurturing environment. The band program is dedicated to fostering aesthetic growth as an essential part of a student’s total education. The band
program exists to facilitate the highest level of musical achievement and character development through a comprehensive curriculum, in keeping with each student’s interest, needs and abilities.



The Tri-Cities band is one of the premier band programs in Georgia.

All ensembles consistently earn top awards and accolades at contests and adjudicated performances. Tri-Cities’ bands have been invited to perform at the Lincoln Center in New York, performed as the opening act for the Boost Mobile’s Rock Corps concert aired on MTV, selected to perform for the 2008 Pre-Olympic Ceremonies in Beijing, China, invited to the 2009 Outback Bowl and most recently invited to the 2012 Garmisch Music Festival in Garmisch, Germany.

Director of Bands

Mr. Tarik Rowland is in his ninth year as Director of Bands at Tri-Cities High School in East Point, Georgia and his fifttenth year as a music educator.

An Atlanta native, Mr. Rowland attended Riverwood High School. His undergraduate work was completed at Georgia Southern University and graduate work at Shenandoah Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia. Mr. Rowland is currently completing his Doctorate in Music Education at The University of Georgia.
